Where you shoot from matters. While you hold the ball, badges above the meter read the floor live:

LAYUP at the rim · MID inside the arc · 3PT beyond the painted 3-point line — worth 3

OPEN GUARDED SMOTHERED — defensive pressure. Smothered shots rarely fall; move or pass.

Dunk: jump right at the rim with the ball and tap Shoot when DUNK READY! flashes — no meter needed.

On defense: get close and face the ball-handler, then Steal. Block / Jump puts a hand up — a jumping defender wrecks badly-timed shots.

Passing: if a defender sits in the passing lane, the Pass button turns red — ⚠ lane covered. Passes thrown through a covered lane get intercepted.

Dribble-lock: stop moving after a dribble and you pick the ball up — from there you can only shoot, jump or pass.
